To assist students in developing the work capability and furthering their employability skills and work readiness it is important to discuss and develop the documents, skills and strategies to become employable.
Activities to support the Development of the Work Capability include:
learning about employability skills and personal attributes of employees
participating in a Mock Interview
preparing a Resume to assist in gaining part time work
discussing participation in paid and unpaid work.
discussing how students can gain experience and employability skills through Work Experience and Volunteering
understanding where jobs are advertised
understanding how to find jobs online and in the local district
preparing a cover letter to accompany a Resume in a job application
planning for Work Experience by:
considering skills, interests, abiltiies to identify potential work experience options
researching through the yellow pages and previous work experience providers
phoning potential employers
negotiating with parents regarding transport and employment locations
negotiating with employers regarding official paperwork, dates and items needed for work experience
considering the employability skills required in students' chosen work experience placement

The coversheet needs to be stapled to the front of the Work Experience Preparation task and Portfolio when submitted for assessment.
